In 1947, the Cubans beat the Cleveland Buckeyes for the Negro World Series Championship. Their staff was lead by junk baller Luis Tiant, Senior. Leading their offensive attack was future American League all star Minnie Minoso. Perhaps their greatest all-time performer was Martin Dihigo, versatile at every position except catcher. He was elected to the Cuban, Mexican and American baseball Hall of Fames. The Cubans played in the Negro National League from 1935-1936 and 1939-1948 and in the National American League from 1949-1950.
