Our Premium vintage inspired baseball tees represent the logos and rich history of the Negro, Latin and Federal baseball leagues, plus historic barnstorming baseball teams.
The New York Black Yankees were founded as the Harlem Stars in 1931 by James “Soldier Boy” Selmer and famous toe-tapper Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. The Stars were rebranded as the New York Black Yankees in 1932 before relocating to Albany, New York. They embarked on a grueling barnstorming schedule, often playing consecutive double headers hundreds of miles apart. In 1933, the team fell to the Philadelphia Stars for the Colored Championship of the Nation. They went on to join the Negro National League in 1936 and would remain until moving to Rochester, New York, before dissolving in 1948. The Black Yankees failed to field a competitive team and held a losing record for ten seasons of league play. However, they were one of the Negro Leagues most visible teams due to connections with Yankee Stadium. Notable players included George Crowe, Fats Jenkins, John Henry Lloyd, Satchel Paige, Ted Radcliffe, “Mule” Suttles, and Willie Wells.
