First established in 1921 in Nashville, the Elite Giants relocated several times before finally calling Baltimore home in 1938. During the 1939 season, the club shocked the baseball world in true underdog fashion defeating a completely stacked Homestead Grays for the league championship. A decade later, the Elite Giants would again reign supreme in the restructured Negro American League. The championship proved bittersweet as the club soon fell prey to shuffling leadership and financial hardship. In 1951, the team returned to its roots in Nashville for its final season before being dissolved.
