This team was co-owned by financier James “Solider Boy” Semeler and fames toe-tapper Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. The Black Yankees originated in Harlem and eventually settled in Albany, New York. Some of the great Yanks were Clink Thomes, Fats Jenkins, DeWitt “Woody” Smallwood, Barney Brown, Crush Holloway and the powerful George “Mule Suttles. The Black Yankees played in the East-West League in 1932 and in the Negro National League from 1937-1948.
