True to their name, the Kansas City All Nations represented a diverse collection of nationalities, ethnicities, and cultures. The All Nations were one of the first truly integrated teams in history, featuring players of white, black, Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and Latino descent. Founded in 1912 by Hopkins Brothers Sporting Goods, the independent team barnstormed throughout the midwest, basing out of Kansas City, Missouri, and Des Moines, Iowa. During one particular outing, the day’s ticket proceeds disappeared, along with the team's manager. J.L. Wilkinson, of Kansas City Monarchs fame, played for the All Nations at the time and volunteered to take the managerial role. He would later go on to acquire ownership of the All Nations. The All Nations lost most of its top players to the World War I draft and were forced to disband in 1918. The team would resurface from 1920-1921 and 1923-1925, operating as a training team for inexperienced players from the Midwest.
