Our vintage inspired classic custom crafted hoodies represent the logos and rich history of the great negro and latin baseball leagues, barnstorming baseball teams, federal leagues and Japanese baseball.
The Eagles made their 1936 Negro National League debut following the consolidation of the Brooklyn Eagles and the Newark Dodgers. Operating out of Newark’s Rupert Stadium, owners Abe and Effa Manley fielded a consistently competitive team, finishing above .500 in all but three seasons in their 14-year history. Their ultimate success came in 1946 with a Negro World Series championship win versus a loaded Kansas City Monarchs team. A year later, the Eagles would fall victim to integration as prized players began moving to the MLB. Effa continued to fight for the league's legitimacy by securing compensation for player contracts lost in transition. Sadly, her efforts were short-lived, and the league dissolved in 1948. Effa was recognized for her significant impact on baseball history by becoming the first woman elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006. She was joined by former Newark Eagles Biz Mackey and Mule Suttles that same year.
